Cordwrapped Knife Handles The Running Dog way! |
Note the notches for locking in the cordwrap... |
Do a tight wrap and scrunch the cords down as you go... |
Pull the cord through the loop... |
Then pull the tail to draw the loop under the wrap... |
and pull the tail a little to draw it under the wrap... |
Trim the tail and add a drop of superglue if you want... |
Still with me so far? Let's go on to... |
First of all, taping the blade edge is a good idea...It will keep you from bleeding on your nice new wrap :)
Start the wrap from the front..I used about 7 feet of cord for this knife... |
Turn the knife over and twist the cords as shown...Turn the knife over and twist again, keeping everything tight and keeping the twist in the same direction... |
Rinse, lather and repeat...Rinse, lather and repeat...You get the idea :) |
When you get to the end, pull both cords through the hole in the handle...Leave a lanyard... |
Or you can trim and melt the poly cord to teminate the cord...cotton or silk you can trim and use a drop of superglue... |
And here's the finished wrap!
You can soak with a light coating of epoxy...Just work it in with a stiff brush... |

You will need about 6-8 feet of cord for the flatwrap... |
We are starting here with a thin cord to use as an underwrap, to add thickness to the grip, but you could use a thicker cord in this style as well... |
